Introduction of CoolPower® by Amphenol Infocom

Amphenol Infocom is pleased to announce the arrival of CoolPower® – a family of power connectors for Network, Telecom, and Server/ Storage markets. With increasing demand for system power in these markets, there is a growing need for connectors that can handle higher current. Amphenol Infocom
has answered the call.

Some readers are already familiar with the Backplane Power connectors featured in last year’s Amphenol Commercial Products (ACP) Application Overview and Product Overview. This family of connectors is comprised of the FCC22 and LCC22 series. Both can be used in similar applications, which may include power from line card to backplane, bus bar to backplane, and power supply to bus bar.  OEM’s producing equipment for PoE or VoIP will no doubt be interested in these series. What makes the product attractive is that is allows for higher power density in small form factors, resulting in a cleaner, more efficient system design. Straightforward connector design and manufacturing allow for a lot of flexibility, making it easy to customize any of these connectors to a user’s specific need.

Developed for Cisco in 2004, the FCC22 series has become one of our fastest growing product lines.  FCC22 connectors feature power contacts that are rated at 40 amps. As a compliment to FCC22, the LCC22 series takes things to another level. Like its predecessor, LCC22 offers the same design flexibility. But what sets it apart is the presence of RADSOK® – a unique power contact technology which, until now has only been offered in industrial connectors. Size-8 RADSOK® power contacts used in LCC22 are rated at 75 amps continuous, with minimal temperature rise.
